Research and innovation at Âé¶¹¹ÙÍø are assisted by over 25 centers and institutes. Students, faculty and industry collaborate across disciplines to address the global needs of today and prepare for the problems of tomorrow.

Center for

Innovation and Entrepreneurship

The Âé¶¹¹ÙÍø Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE) helps students and community members acquire the tools, develop the skills and cultivate the mindset of an entrepreneur so they can create economic and social value throughout the world.

Center for

Coastal Marine Sciences

The Center for Coastal Marine Sciences (CCMS) researches methods for enhancing marine life, protecting coastal habitats, adapting for climate change and more. Among the labs and facilities is a 3000-foot research pier in nearby Avila Beach, providing Âé¶¹¹ÙÍø unrivaled access to the ocean and opportunities for day-to-day field work, research cruises and scientific diving programs. 

Materials Engineering students work with two titanium coils which they are testing out at the Âé¶¹¹ÙÍø Pier to see how suitable the material is for use as an artificial reef.

With nearly 10,000 acres of land to serve as a living laboratory for assessing sustainability practices, aims to determine how to support the future of agriculture.

The California Center for Construction Education allows students and industry to come together and explore new innovation and technology in design and construction.

Through experimenting with new and emerging technologies, the center brings together technology and the liberal arts and will soon  in the heart of campus.  

California Cybersecurity Institute

In partnership with the California National Guard, the California Cybersecurity Institute (CCI) explores new cyber technologies in order to protect California from future cyber threats. The Center educates the next generation of cyber workforce and allows them to train and test tactics side by side with law enforcement professionals and cyberforensics experts.

WUI Fire Institute

The Wildland-Urban Interface (WUI) Fire Institute is a mission driven organization that seeks solutions to the Wildland-Urban Interface fire problem through innovative research, training, and education to create safer and more fire resilient communities in California and the West.
